NEW YORK \u2014 Officially on the calendar at\u00a0Fashion Week Online<\/a>,\u00a0Maarkah New York Fashion Week Spring\/Summer 2018<\/a>\u00a0will bring together world-class international celebrity designers, brands, fashion influencers, bloggers, celebrities, industry elite professionals, retailers, and fashion associations from all over the world. Maarkah will introduce and showcase the amazing designs and designers from Morocco, South Africa, Syria, Israel, Holland, Belgium, Indonesia, Guyana, and United States with particular focus on designs and designers from throughout the Middle East and Africa. Media personality\u00a0Shefik<\/a>\u00a0and fashion designer\u00a0Eloisa Diaz-Sanz<\/a>\u00a0are teaming to host the highly-anticipated event, which includes a red-carpet extravaganza and an epic behind-the-scenes journey. The event is produced by\u00a0Runway Prestige<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maarkah\u00a0will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT, at\u00a0Studio 450, 450 West 31 Street, 12 Floor, New York, NY 10001<\/a>. Entry begins at 5:30 p.m.\u00a0Limited tickets for the general public can be purchased online at\u00a0eventbrite.com\/e\/maarkah-fashion-week-tickets-37046888240<\/a>. Members of the media may qualify for free admission, by emailing a request to\u00a0info@maarkah.com<\/a>. Media will be serviced entry, between 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m, and VIP guests will be serviced entry, starting at 5:00 p.m. Note that entry may not be permitted once the show has commenced.<\/p>\n

Maarkah\u00a0means\u00a0brand in Arabic. In this one-of-a-kind New York Fashion Week show, an array of international brands will brought together to showcase their creative talents.<\/p>\n

“Maarkah is the New York bridge between Middle Eastern and African fashion designs and designers,” says Shefik. “This is an enriching experience for me, especially since my first name is Arabic-based, and my family’s heritage stems from Sierra Leone, West Africa.”<\/p>\n

Shefik is an accomplished industry insider, who has appeared on\u00a0MTV<\/a>,\u00a0SiriusXM<\/a>,\u00a0PBS<\/a>,\u00a0network television<\/a>, and in\u00a0print media<\/a>, as well as internationally on\u00a0TRT World<\/a>\u00a0(Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, based in Istanbul, Turkey). He has held senior-level positions at many Fortune 500 companies and celebrated brands, including IBM, NBCUniversal, MTV World, Merck, Merriam-Webster, and Wolters Kluwer. A seasoned pro in social media with a career background as a Lead Architect and Senior Web Developer, Shefik is on the cutting edge of new media. As a videographer and producer, his work has been featured in television broadcasts and video productions for TIME Magazine, The Washington Center,\u00a0“Unsung”<\/a>\u00a0(TV One), and Broadway World. Additionally, his photography has been featured in print and online publications, such as\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0(based in United Kingdom), Harvard Kennedy School Magazine,\u00a0Playbill<\/a>, and China Press. He is currently the Executive Producer and Host of the nationally-syndicated radio show\u00a0“Shefik presents Invocation”<\/a>, which is broadcast on 21 terrestrial radio stations and frequencies throughout the United States.<\/p>\n

“Maarkah is revolutionizing New York Fashion Week with a group of designers that span countries, gender, and culture,” says Eloisa Diaz-Sanz. “The event is injecting New York with a much needed dose of diversification on its runways.”<\/p>\n

Eloisa Diaz-Sanz is an American creative consultant and fashion designer from New York City, specializing in womenswear. Her experience includes work for high-end brands featured in British Vogue, London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, and New York Fashion Night Out Events. Her mainstream designs have also been featured in national ad campaigns across the United States. Currently, she spends her time in-between New York City and London, where she designs and serves as a creative consultant. After working for over a decade as a womenswear designer in New York City for major retail brands, she decided to relocate to London, due to being inspired by her travels across Europe. It was here that she enrolled in one of the world’s most recognized fashion universities, Central Saint Martins, to further refine her skills. During her time at Central Saint Martins is where she evolved from mainstream fashion to high-end designer\/couture.<\/p>\n
